2 weeks??

I've been a horrible blogger.  No word for what...2, 3 weeks ish?  My poor readers must be wondering what they did wrong to be so neglected!

I've been busy knitting like a demon! One market bag down, one almost finished, flowers, oh and a really big deal...Cousin's wedding gift is finished! I'll post pictures soon, he gets married on Saturday!!!

Some of you may be wondering about the Blick's job I interviewed for.  Well, I interviewed a second time (!!!) and will know by Wednesday what's what.  I just hope I don't get a job offer provisional on me being there this weekend, since the wedding is this weekend and I really wanted to go.  If I do get an offer, then I guess I don't see my cousin for a few years since he's all the way out in Oregon.  I wish I would have said something in the interview, but I didn't think the timing would work out this way!!

I delivered my first finished commission on Thursday! It's of Luvie.  I don't have my computer hooked up to my camera or I'd add pictures.  Luvie was dearly loved and is dearly departed.  My client almost started crying when I showed her the painting! Because she loved it, not because I did it badly.  A little faith, if you please? That's the kind of emotional impact I love to make, capturing the personality of an animal in a work so it's like he or she is staring back at you from the paper.

    What little time we were together I would never have guessed that you would be this active with so many art.........art awesome. I could not find the words to really put into words all the mediums that you have been doing. Knitting, painting. Wow Liz, you really are quite the multi talented artist. I really wish you posted more of your work besides just the watercolors. They are nice but as a photographer and before my love of photos I used to draw I have a love of arts both those than are tech based and those that are paper and media. Share more of your media......I would as well but I only do photos now.

    With the right inspirations I may draw again.

    Sorry for the uber long post and you should update more often. MISS YOU!

    Unisom sleep melts sure work nice. I am as close to a waking human as a zombie. UUUUUUUUUnnnnnnnnnnng sleep melts LOL

Ribbed-To-Fit Boot Socks

Edit: Thank you for your marvelous feedback! I am re-writing this pattern with that in mind, using Vintage worsted weight. The original socks are now full of holes in the heel. Very loved. Mindless Knits

I am going to create a collection, to be bundled and sold eventually, called "Mindless Knits". I give them individually free on this blog. If you have any idea how many I should put in the bundle before I charge for such simple things, please leave a comment!  These patterns are all super simple, and good for knitting while thinking, or in meetings, or driving somewhere. They are for when your hands start twitching and you just want to knit something but you can't pay attention to your work in order to track the yarn overs and stitch counts. Also, none of these matter as to gauge unless you want to get EXACTLY the size I did. Just taking as many steps out of the process as possible! First Up: The Mindless Washcloth: Yarn: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn, such as Lily'n Cream. One small package will do nicely. My finished project weighed 26 grams. Needles: US Size 7 (4.5mm). Duck Island Enterprises RELAUNCH

As you may have noticed, updates around here are rather more sporadic than might be desirable. Also, the pattern offering is awfully thin for someone who creates as much as I do. The problem is not my innovation or time to knit. Rather it is in actually FINISHING a written pattern. Then taking pictures of the finished item and putting it all together in an easily knittable form for you, my dear readers. Times, they are achangin! Thanks in large part to a new endeavor with my photographer Joanna Holland, which I will announce in due course, I have been inspired to give Duck Island Enterprises a facelift! I'm putting together an actual business plan and real goals (shocking as that may seem).
